Whether you’re craving a classic slice or an inventive twist on Italian-American favorites, Café Carmela invites you to indulge in a rich culinary experience that is both comforting and exciting.

From the very first bite, the menu captivates with standout dishes like the Drunken Chicken Cheesesteak, a clever and mouthwatering spin on the Philadelphia classic, and the irresistible Mamma Leuzzi’S Pie, a pizza that sings with rich San Marzano tomato sauce and gooey mozzarella. The Truffle Fries tossed in savory cheese sauce offer an elevated starter that’s crisp, fragrant, and utterly addictive. The specialty pizzas here—such as The Maggs, boasting the perfect cheese pull with whole milk mozzarella and fresh basil, or the robust PROV Pie featuring aged sharp Provolone and Pecorino Romano—showcase the kitchen’s dedication to quality and tradition.

Salad lovers are well catered for with fresh, vibrant options like the Burrata Caprese that combines creamy burrata cheese with baby arugula, ripe tomato, and balsamic glaze, balancing freshness and indulgence beautifully. Those seeking heartier fare will be tempted by the Meatball Salad, where homemade savory meatballs meet crisp romaine and tangy red wine vinaigrette, creating a satisfying harmony of textures and flavors.

The menu also embraces comfort food with a gourmet edge—dishes such as the velvety Crab Mac N’ Cheese and the zesty Garlic Buffalo Parm Wings deliver bold flavors that leave a lasting impression. For vegetarians or those craving something lighter, the Eggplant Sandwich and expertly crafted pasta dishes like Ralphie Ravioli or Gnocchi My Nini offer delightful options that don’t compromise on taste.

First time here, ordered to go... Arancini as an appetizer and an Italiano sub. They were excellent!!! Looking forward to going back. Mary took my order and was awesome. She said that I will have to come back and eat a Cheesesteak in the dining room, I will try that next time.

Not only did they give me one of the best cheesesteaks that I've had during my time in Philly (and I've had 10 other places), but the service was also exceptional (special thanks to the red head waitress). Not to skip past the crab Mac N cheese which was also top notch. The cheese pull on the Magg pizza was one that all places should strive to achieve. The truffle fries with the cheese sauce was very tasty as well. All in all, this place serves delicious food at very fair prices. I can easily recommend them

Café Carmela is one of those places that just gets it right. From the moment we walked in, it felt comfortable and welcoming, the kind of spot where you can relax and actually enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Everything we ordered was so good. The meatballs were amazing — tender, flavorful, and clearly homemade. And the sauce!!! Soooo good!! The eggplant parmigiano was comforting in the best way, perfectly cooked and full of flavor without being heavy. And the Don Cheech cheesesteak was honestly outstanding. Packed with flavor, cooked just right, and easily one of the best cheesesteaks we’ve had in a long time. And of course, every place must have fries and they do. Crunchy, hot, and exactly what you want alongside a great sandwich. What really stood out, though, was how kind and helpful the staff was. Everyone was friendly, patient and made great recommendations, and made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back, making it a great place to enjoy a casual meal, or just sit and enjoy really good food. Nothing feels overdone or pretentious — it’s simply a place that serves great food and treats people well. Oh and we live the decor and interesting signs. Feels like a throw back to a different time. Café Carmela is definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to. It’s the kind of place you’re happy to have in your neighborhood and excited to recommend to others. Definitely worth it. Check them out!

Came here for an office lunch and everything was truly spectacular. I can't wait to be back. I would definitely recommend the drunken rigatoni, cheesesteak and the Maggs! the Truffle fries were awesome too. Give them a try!

My first time visiting this restaurant and I’m so happy that we came here for lunch. Soon as we walked in we were greeted by Rae, our server, with a very pleasant manner. We ordered a Caesar salad, a cheesesteak and a pizza with half mushrooms. Everything was fresh and so very good. The cheesesteak was exceptional. It was served on a soft roll, very generous amount of steak and cheese. The Caesar salad was so light and refreshing and the pizza was perfect. The place is clean and I loved the pictures. Being from South Philly, where there are plenty of Italian restaurants, I was so glad my husband decided on Cafe Carmela. Ann Marie took the time to explain the restaurant and her actually being from the Italian Market area. I so look forward to a return visit.
